Values Ambassador: Jaden Ohnemiller
By: Heartspring
Meet September's Values Ambassador, Heartspring Assistant System Administrator Jaden Ohnemiller. Jaden has worked at Heartspring since 2019, following his passion for improving the lives of children with autism and other complex needs. With an Information Systems and Marketing degree in hand, Jaden knew he wanted to work at Heartspring, but there were not any openings. So, he applied for a para job to get his foot in the door. And when the opening in the IT department came up, he was able to take it. Now Jaden uses the skills he learned in school as well as his past position as a paraeducator to support Heartspring clients and staff.
We interviewed Jaden's supervisor, IT Director Brad Benaway, about why he nominated him to be the values ambassador.
Why did you nominate Jaden?
Due to various reasons, IT has been shorthanded lately while key teammates were out of the office. All while having critical organizational projects to complete. Jaden took on additional responsibilities like updating groups, folder access, and permissions while also helping install the new Wi-Fi system. Much of this was new to him, and he took the opportunity to research and learn how to do it on his own.
Do you have any examples of him going above and beyond?
Jaden was scheduled to be out of the office while we were shorthanded. He canceled his time off to help and worked additional hours to make sure we were covered during critical times. Before leaving each night, Jaden would check with the team to see if there was anything else we needed.
What is he like to work with?
Jaden is always a delightful person. As he learns more about IT, he has been able to offer effective and creative solutions to issues as they arise. He checks on staff and offers to help wherever he can.
How much do you think his work impacts the children and families we serve?
While Jaden serves in a support role at Heartspring, his work impacts students, clients, and families by setting up the computers, software, and devices that keep Heartspring running. His work indirectly impacts the students, clients, and families by serving the staff members that work with directly them. As Jaden focuses on their computer and technological needs, the staff members can focus on their students, clients, and families.
Jaden, thank you for your willingness to step in when we needed it. We appreciate you and your commitment to serving the children, families, and staff at Heartspring!
