Steve Richards, Fueling Heartspring and Their Events

Blendrich Nutrition has supported Heartspring for years

For Blendrich Nutrition founder and bike racing competitor Steve Richards, the PedalFest event at CAREfest has been a part of his cycling journey for many years. Serving as a sponsor and committee member, Steve has been integral in mapping out the PedalFest routes, assisting with support and gear, and providing Blendrich Nutrition products for hydration and calorie replenishment to the on-course riders.

Even though Steve is not normally able to participate as a rider because he is busy fulfilling his responsibilities during the PedalFest rides at CAREfest, he does enjoy watching the riders knowing that he is providing the support and hydration they need to complete the ride.

"I don’t seem to get to ride in PedalFest because the day is usually very busy getting the hydration products prepared for the riders and out to the Support and Gear stops,” Steve said. “After the ride there is the usual retrieval of products, jugs, and materials, followed by the cleanup.”

For Steve, the Heartspring mission is one that is important and close to his heart. “I believe giving back to the community is important and I serve on several boards and committees. Heartspring’s connection to the community serves a real need and I am honored to be a part of that in my small way.”

In his free time, Steve enjoys backpacking and bikepacking along with competing in gravel cycling events such as LaGrind, Unbound, and Elrod’s Cirque. Steve plans to ride the Katy Trail and RAGBRAI this year along with hiking part of the Continental Divide Trail.
