Sometimes children need extra help to become truly independent.

Children can battle with anxiety, depression, or behavioral or sleep issues. A Developmental-Behavioral Advanced Practice Registered Nurse specializing in children with developmental delays can help children overcome these difficulties.

Below are some signs that may indicate your child would benefit from these services.

  • Your child is taking a long time to fall asleep
  • Your child is waking up after they’ve already fallen asleep
  • Your child runs or climbs when not appropriate and has high overall energy
  • Your child is anxious when they leave home
  • Your child has formed an extreme attachment to his or her parent
  • Your child is having an increasing number of stomach aches
  • Your child has displayed aggressive or self-injurious behavior
  • Your child has been more irritable or in a depressed mood
  • Your child has been sleeping more
  • Your child has lost motivation to do the things they used to love to do

Heartspring has partnered with the University of Kansas MedicalKansas Medical Practice Association to bring on Vanessa K. Jones, DNP, APRN, FNP-C. She will be working on our outpatient services team as an advanced nurse practitioner. Her addition to the team will complement the comprehensive therapy services with medication evaluation and management to ensure the best therapeutic value.

If your child is exhibiting the behaviors above and you would like to learn more about these services, call Heartspring Outpatient at 316-634-8710 or email outpatient@heartspring.org.
